ANOTHER STUDIO VIEW / NOISE SECTOR
This is the part of the studio responsible for NOISE / sound
exploration; little sonic events morph into powerful tactile
entities. My palette is further extended by the powerful Serge
Creature/Seq A combo, along with Dima's magnificent ::VTOL::
Corvax and Volfram synths/noise generators. The Folktek pieces
add more options and their own sonic signature. This is where
"negative beauty" (Joanna Demers,"Listening Through The
Noise" 2010) dwells.

ONE STUDIO VIEW
A partial view of my studio containing the mighty Genoqs Octopus, a mononphonic analogue beast, the Korg MS20, a number of Folktek creations and a few tiny devices (Buddha Box, Wicks Looper, a Chimera synth, a Zvex Fuzz Factory, and an Alesis mini-effects processor. All poised to produce sonic mayhem!

COSMIC PSALM
Playing a bit with my Serge Creature/Seq A combo, I came up with this lulled piece of music. Somewhat ambient in nature, but decidedly containining an element of "negative beauty" in the form of puffs of LFO white noise from the Doepfer Dark Energy and the ::VTOL:: duo of the Corvax and Volfram synths. One of those pieces that seems to come out of no-where, this slice of cosmic fabric could possibly be un-ending, seemingly vast in nature, but at the same time, intimate and delicate, almost a wisp of sound. I'm reminded of Robert Ryman's white "all-over" paintings; those with visual acuity search for imperfection, small visual events to challenge our perception of their "purity." LISTEN...Thanks Rex, Dima, and heir Doepfer.

FOR RICHARD SERRA
After viewing Richard Serra's murky black oilstick drawings at various galleries in NYC, and recently being awed walking through a number of his monumental sculptures at Dia Beacon, I have been waiting for the opportunity to make a piece that reflected the profound weight/weightlessness of his impressive work. It seems to have come together in this live improv, especially in the weighty repeated motif produced by the ::VTOL:: Corvax synth that best reflects my take on Serra's potentially crushing work.

MURKY HEAVINESS
A morning improv, the ::VTOL:: Corvax providing the repeated murky heaviness propelling the sleep from my eyes. Both the Serge and the ::VTOL:: Volfram lending some high-end hiss that is overlayed on a bed of sludge, like the white between the thick expressive swipes of black sticky architectural "handwriting" that is found in the paintings of Franz Kline.

CABARET VOLTAIRE
White noise, snippets of garbled speech, Richard H. Kirk's insectoid guitar, Mal's speaksong, Chris Watson's NOISE...who could ask for more?...seems somehow timely in an age of over-arching "security" organizations whose numbers are unavailable to even each other...Cabaret Voltaire...purveyers then of NOW!

GLASS FINGERS WITH ::VTOL::SONIC DETRIUS
Another improv featuring ::VTOL:: synths with the goal of creating a swirling morass of sound darting between the rhythmic sequence produced by the Dark Energy/Tenori-on combo. Uploaded shortly after dropping a glass bottle in my kitchen, the title suggests the end result of the bloody clean-up.

:VTOL:/SERGE AGREEMENT
Yet another improv featuring wonderful ::VTOL:: synths; the Corvax providing the percussive sounds and the Volfram, noise jabs. The Serge Creature/Seq A combo modular supplies a vague sequence of sorts floating in and out of the live mix, a sound diving and submerging like an aquatic ghost...David Lynch's lurching, insectoid hell in "Blue Velvet."

SERGE/::VTOL::
Another improv featuring some of my favorite gear. So much to learn, so many banana cables!

MORE SERGE
Another improv featuring my new Creature/Seq A combo, Rex Probe's "monkeys" scrambling for attention...NO effects, ONLY Serge with some ::VTOL:: Corvaxed voices and a telephone ringing at the conclusion, hence the title.

SERGED!!
The mighty Serge Creature along with a Seq A enjoy a dystopian mis-adventure with my trusty ::VTOL:: Corvax synth helped along with a ring-mod setting on the Alesis Ineko and some Korg Mini KP messing about! Thanks to Rex and Dimitriy!
